Chemical peels are an effective treatment for uneven skin tone, fine lines & wrinkles (by stimulating collagen renewal), acne, acne scarring, age spots and pigmentation. Chemical peels remove the outer layer of skin by using a chemical solution that is applied to the surface layer. How deep the solution goes and how much skin is removed will depend on the treatment used.
As the skin matures its ability to shed dead skin cells declines and slows down, peels will help with exfoliation to reveal healthy and hydrated skin underneath and will aid in the regeneration process. It is like starting with a clean slate – By removing the upper layers of the skin which are often dead or damaged, the texture and radiance of the skin can be improved leaving it looking and feeling younger, softer and smoother. At Urban Sanctuary, we offer a range of chemical peels, with different strengths, from light to deep peels and different active ingredients to suit different skin types, concerns and tones.
Skin peels are generally not recommened for extremely sensitive skin or for clients who have eczema or psoriasis.

Asap Glycolic Peel – Is perfect for clients who want to minimise fine lines and wrinkles and hydrate the skin and is a great treatment for acne or break out prone skin. This peel will stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin. Glycolic acid (AHA) stimulates fibroblasts cells in the dermis to produce increased amounts of collagen. As the exfoliation process removes dead skin and dirt, the skin pores that were blocked with these impurities get unclogged causing a reduction in the pore size.
Asap Lactic Peel – Targets skin in need of hydration, this peel is perfect for dry, mature and sensitive skin. Lactic acid aids in the exfoliation of skin, it helps brighten the skin and reduce the signs of sun damage and pigmentation.
Asap Reveal Peel – Targets uneven skin tone and texture, using AHA and BHA it restores a fresh, smooth and more youthful appearance to the skin. AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid )and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) both diminish the look of lines and wrinkles, make skin look and feel firmer, hydrate skin, improve the look of dull, uneven skin tone and they smooth rough and bumpy texture. By using AHA and BHA together it ensures a deeper exfoliation.
Skinceuticals Gel Peel GL – this is the ideal ‘entry-level’ peel in the SkinCeuticals professional treatment range, it is an Alpha Hydroxy peel including 20% Glycolic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid and has a pH of 3.2. It is ideal as an initial peel or superficial peel for sensitive skin and helps to prepare the skin for extractions. The lactic acid in this peel is great for exfoliation but also has amazing hydrating benefits so its is favoured by many clients who have dry and dehydrated skin. Gel Peel GL can be used for any age group and skin type and is used to treat problematic skin (with or without breakouts), photodamage and to improve skin elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment can be combined with IPL treatment as part of a bespoke treatment plan.
Skinceuticals Micro Peel 20-30% Glycolic – SkinCeuticals Micro Peel is a skin peel containing 20% or 30% pure unbuffed Glycolic Acid depending on the peel type and on the client’s skin needs. Micro Peel effectively treats common skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, dry/dull skin, and superficial pigmentation, it will lead to a radiant complexion and a more even skin tone. This peel is suitable for a variety of skin types, including sensitive skin. MicroPeel 20 or 30% accelerate cell renewal to reduce signs of photo damage and stimulate collagen synthesis.
Environ Cool Peel – We offer a range of tailored Cool Peels from Environ each addressing individual skin concerns. The Cool Peels are non invasive and will revive, refine and brighten skin. Environ’s cool peel technology is centred around the philosophy of light, gentle and repetitive peeling which aims to protect the integrity of the skin’s health. Cool peels are as the names suggest, cool on the skin and also very comfortable. They range from mild to more intense and this will be decided by your Environ trained therapist. Environ Cool Peels are unique because the treatment is completed with a tailored mask that is accelerated into the skin using the Environ Ionzyme DF2 machine, this enhances the dispersion of active products and serums in Environ Skin Care products by using a combination of Iontophoresis (electrical pulses) and Sonophoresis (sound waves).

Skin Peel Treatment in our Tralee Clinic
Skin peels can be booked with consultation two weeks prior to treatment as Clients do need to prep before treatment with certain products as directed by one of our skin specialists. This will ensure the skin can tolerate the ingredients used and to ensure optimum results.
Your Skin specialist will choose the peel that is best suited to your skin and that will address your skin concerns.
The skin is double cleansed, exfoliated and toner applied. The suitable skin peel is applied, the peel is then neutralised after the suitable length of time. Each peel will have its own process so treatment will vary on depending on the peel that is applied. With SkinCeuticals Peels a tailored mask is applied after the peel depending on the area of concern that is being addressed. ASAP peels require that the peel remains on the skin and with Environ a tailored mask is applied and invigorated by the Environ Ionzyme DF2 machine.
Clients will experience a shortlived tingling sensation during treatment. Redness is minimal and clients may experience dry or flaking skin after a few days but only if they received an intense peel.
For optimum results and to effectively target the skin concern we recommend 4 to 6 skin peels at least 2 weeks apart.

Treatment is very safe and effective. It is performed by our trained therapists. Appointments can only be made with a consultation two weeks prior to treatment as there are skincare steps to be followed prior to treatment. Skin peels are not recommended for clients with extremely sensitive skin or who may suffer from eczema or psoriasis on the area to be treated.
The treatment is not painful although some clients may experience a short lived tingling sensation depending on the strength of the peel being applied.
Results can be noticed after one treatment, skin will feel refreshed, hydrated and with a healthy glow. For prolonged and optimum results we do recommend a course of treatments.
