IPL for Thread Veins

IPL for Telangiectasias

Thread Veins/Spider Veins/Areas of Rosacea

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Laser Treatments are the most effective treatments for the removal of tiny red body and facial veins and for areas of rosacea.  IPL or Intense Pulsed Light therapy uses high intensity pulses of visible light to address this skin concern.

The light energy targets the red pigment in the broken capillaries and blood vessels, the vessel walls heat and subsequently collapse and eventually they will be discarded by the body.   IPL is a safe, precise, and effective way of treating thread veins with minimal effect on the surrounding skin.  It is better to treat the veins as soon as possible after they appear as fewer sessions may be needed.

At Urban Sanctuary we only use the best technologies and for IPL treatment that treats thread veins we use the Nordlys IPL system from Candela.

Thread Vein Removal at our Tralee Clinic

For all IPL treatments a patch test and consultation is required.  This takes 20 minutes where a concise medical questionnaire is filled in, a patch test of a small area of skin is then performed.

Once there are no reactions to the patch test and no contraindications it is possible to go ahead with treatments after 48 hours.

The skin is double cleansed and a cooling gel applied to the area, goggles are worn to protect the eyes.   The handpiece from the Nordlys system is applied to the area and pulses of light are transmitted to the area.  Clients will experience a bit of discomfort or stinging sensation but this only lasts for a few seconds.

The IPL thread vein treatment itself only lasts a few minutes. After it is complete, we apply a soothing gel followed by sunscreen. Avoiding sun exposure during and after IPL treatment is essential, so we ask clients to always wear a high SPF.

A little redness is usual after the IPL thread vein treatment. Occasionally clients experience slight swelling, which usually goes after 24-48 hours. Veins can become darker in colour and sometimes there is slight crusting which disappears after 7 to 10 days. Every individual client’s response to IPL thread vein removal is different but overall this treatment is extremely effective.
