The technology targets unwanted hair with narrow wavelengths of light which results in less heat on your skin and fewer treatments compared to other IPLs. Laser Hair Removal at Urban Sanctuary Tralee
A consultation and patch test is required prior to treatment. The consultation includes a health questionnaire to establish if any contraindications are present.
We will then do a test patch with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment. Hair should not be waxed, shaved or tweezed before the initial consultation. Skin with fake tan or tanned skin cannot be treated as the laser will pick up on the pigment on the skin and not the hair.
Treatment
A thin layer of gel is applied to your skin before treatment, to ensure the maximum amount of light enters the skin. Protective goggles are worn during treatment. The applicator is pressed against the skin and a carefully controlled and targeted pulse of visible light is released.
Hair in both the face and body have different hair growth cycles. Hair grows for a period of time, falls out, rests and then starts to grow again. Only hairs that are growing can be treated – so you need to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been treated whilst in the growth or anagen stage.
Every client is different so our Skin Therapists will assess clients on a case by case basis. In general 6 to 8 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks or every 6 to 8 weeks as treatment progresses are required for optimum results.

Nordlys, which means northern lights in Danish offers photorejuvenation and laser hair removal treatments. It uses narrowband technology defined by dual filters and sub-millisecond pulses for exceptional hair removal.
The emitted light is absorbed by pigment (melanin) in your hair. Melanin converts the light into heat, which travels down the hair, toward the root, and heats the hair matrix, preventing future hair growth. The greater the concentration of melanin the more effective the treatment tends to be, so if you have dark brown or black hair it is likely to work better.
Yes, the treatment is safe and effective. Treatment will only commence once no contraindications are present. Treatment is only carried out by our trained therapists.
